Statement of aims and intentions.

In my music video I aim to create a narrative which will engage the audience and will definitely resonate well with lovers of romantic music videos. The key idea I wish to execute when creating my music video is of a young couple blindly in love, told through the boys perspective. Most of the camera shots I intend to use will be as taken if they are through the eyes of the male singer and as if he is looking at her constantly. I will use mise-en-scene such as body language and facial expressions to connote the passion and excitement within this youthful relationship. Things such as leaning into each other and eye contact, will create a beautiful on screen short romance narrative, resulting in 18-34 year olds being in awe of the couple. Settings and props such as urban areas and skateboards will create a modern and current feel to the video and help the audience connect with the characters as these things are very much in style at the moment. I intend to create characters who the indie music aficionados will see as one of them. I will do this through the use of media language such as costumes and makeup. As I am an indie fan also, not exactly an aficionado however, I understand the indie scene at this time and I am aiming to reflect the current style within my cross-media products and again I intend to execute this through the use of the characters, setting and body language.

In terms of shots, there are parts of the video I am aiming to give a home filmed feel to, such as when the boy and girl are just spending time together. I want it to look as if he is recording her as he is so in love and enchanted by her. I think the audience will find this pleasing as it is a fairly young audience who I am sure wish to feel intense love like this. Secondly, the indie genre has conventions of singing about emotions in a raw way, this is why i believe raw looking footage can create a sense of realness to the narrative. Through doing that i will be conforming to the stereotypes of an indie music video which therefore clearly meets the demands of the industry context.

For my magazine, I intend to create an introduction to the artist as he is new to the indie scene. Aficionados of the genre will have either heard of him already or are excited about finding a new and upcoming singer. For the front cover of the magazine I want to have a picture of the singer taken from a bird's eye view sitting down on a concrete floor and have the girl out of the frame but with some of her hair peeking through as if she is lying next to him. This in turn makes the artist the focal point of the image and shows that it is his track but also shows that within the style of his music, there is often a love interest. Through the placing of the girl, I am enticing the audience to read the double page spread as they may discover some gossip about the artist's love life. The double page spread i am aiming to include an interview with the artist which talks about his prior life and how he got into music and the indie genre. This will create a sense of identity and show the audience members who he is and where he came from. I intend to incorporate a section of the artist's style and the music he wants to create in the future as I think this will leave the audience wanting more.
