Pull My Heart away - Jack Penate
There is one very common theme in the comments of this video, being that it makes people think of "a better time" and that it is a "timeless masterpiece". comments such as "this video brings back memories big time" show that people like songs that make them reminiscent which might influence my style of music video and song choice. Regarding the song choice, almost every comment I read was extremely positive with people saying that they have it "on repeat" for hours and days. This leads me to the thought that the audience of Jack Penance are aficionados of his music due to specific comments they make, such as: "Underestimated song. It is a masterpiece. Thank you for recording this, it is beautiful & gives hope." and "every time I listen to this song I think of the best times in my life... This music makes me high without drugs, no doubt a Masterpiece". In my opinion it can be said that they are to some extent obsessed with this artist and song which can be seen as a niche audience of super fans.

The comments also often compare the artist to Robert Smith and The Cure which shows that they are familiar to that type of music. Robert Smiths music genres are post-punk, gothic rock, new wave and alternative rock. There are very few negative comments underneath this video but there are two that stuck out to me: "...the video however could have been better" and "Did this guy just synchronise his vacation videos for this song?". These are important criticism as they show how some people may think that the video has an amateur feel to it and like little effort has been put in. It also shows how the video doesn't match with the meanings of the song, suggesting that people may like a video with a narrative better.
Arrows of Eros - The Golden Silvers
This video had so many positive comments and, I can't be sure but I think that the audience of this video is roughly our target audience because of how the comments where written. For example " Saw the Golden Silvers (: they were mint" and "this make me haaappy!!!! " The reason i believe this audience to be young adults is because of the lexis used such as "mint" which I don't think is part of the cultural capital of an older (40 plus) person. The way that "haaappy" is written leads me to the assumption that an older person would just spell it correctly and not embellish it with the extended use of letters.
Some of the positive comments made "This song reminds me of Madness or The smiths. Great song and cool music clip"and "Best song I have heard in years... reminds me of the days of the goonies" now this comment is interesting as The Goonies were around in 1985 and this comment was made 10 years ago which puts this audience member in around their 40's which is above the target audience.
There are extensive praising comments about the music video itself and the vibe given by the music video "end 60's and start of the 70's style" and "I love it. It's so 80's!" create an old fashioned identity to the video as people are relating it to styles from the past and this is clearly pleasing to the audience. "suuuuper! totally awesome! love the music and the video is great!", these audience members could be called music aficionados because of their established knowledge of this artist and his work, this is clearly seen in this comment "incredibly underrated. Amazing video! but they should have left the original mix alone. It was perfect." we can tell from this that there are audience members that are very familiar with past music, so are invested in this band.
when looking at the comments, there is a strong sense of religion created from this video and song.
it is an interesting stance to take as people could love it or hate it. In the case of this video, people loved the religious aspect of it. "I broke into tears when he says..i bow down to the king upon The throne my life is his I'm no longer my own...God is good" from this comment it is clear that people are deeply moved by this creation . There are multiple comments like this one "I’m not even religious but I swear I felt something listening to this" which shows how religion can even be brought out of people when watching and listening to this video.
