Dazed Front cover (specialist culture magazine)
Similarly to the other specialist culture magazine, this focuses on society and beauty expectations. The line "Not everything is black and white" with the colour choice for this front page creates juxtaposition because of the hypocrisy of everything, including that line being presented in monochrome. This is a clever choice as it stimulates the audience to interpret the context of that line. The comparison between the black and white is stark and shows how one person can express themselves in multiple ways, even ones that are polar opposites like that shown in the central image.
The way in which the DAZED masthead is spilt in the middle and inverted creates a unique look to this specific front page and reflects the identity of the image.
The positioning of the bar-code is the same as the Asthetica magazine, so it could possibly part of the general layout of culture specific magazines.
Great! Can you find a double page article to analyse too?
