You can immediately tell that this isn't a music specific magazine as there is a more social/cultural identity to it. The image chosen for this Aesthetica front page represents societies expectations and beauty standards. We can see the barefaced girl looking somewhat forlorn with an image of herself with makeup on, covering one of her eyes creating the ideology that her chosen look is the natural, non-filtered one. 
The use of background colour paired with the girls hair and shirt colour creates a very neutral tone to the picture and could represent the basic ideas that society has. The simplicity of the layout and design of the information surrounding the masthead puts all your focus on the girl in the centre of the front page.
the positioning of the bar-code individualises Aesthetica from other magazines due to the unconventional way it is placed. this could be for convenience of just part of the brands identity.

KERRANGE! Article (specialist music mag) In this double page spread featuring H.I.M we see the clever choice of colour to attract an audience. The bright font colour puts focus on the artist's name and the white contrasted onto the dark black causes the text stand out. The use of the quotation makes us feel relate to the artist as we get a glimpse into their opinions and feelings. In this instance, the quotation "we felt like we didn't have a home" helps us to develop an emotive relationship with the artist as he is exposing a vulnerable side to himself.
